Working Horse Head Jack Stand
thingiverse
I wanted to build a functional jack stand, so I figured out that it requires one yellow motor, which can be purchased inexpensively from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Dimart-100RPM-Robot-Intelligent-Shaft/dp/B00PFBEMQC/, along with a single AA battery and this item found on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9805. Hot glue is extremely effective when working with PLA to put everything together, and Superglue could also be used. I printed the following quantities: 4x cap.stl (with the open end facing upwards) 2x crank.stl (with the flat section facing downwards) 2x pitman rod.stl (laying down flat) 1x platform.stl 1x rod.stl (see printing comment below) 2x samson stand.stl (laying down flat) 1x walking beam (the video shows it being printed upside down, so print with the fork on the bed) It was easiest to print in the following groups: 1. walking beam (with support and possibly a raft) 2. rod (with support and likely a raft) laid down flat so the extrusion goes the length of the rod, 0.1mm layer. 3. everything else (without support) Here are some timelapse videos of me printing a modified version of this item: 1. part 1 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKGqkFzocaQ 2. part 2 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUqNdscgiqQ 3. earlier version in action at https://youtu.be/oDmJwwHcNH4
