Working Electric Switch-Single Print-No Support Needed
thingiverse
A momentary metal contact switch can be made using either single or dual extruder. It uses brass contacts added at specific times during printing via "pause" command. The process involves creating brass contacts of .030 1/4" width, cutting into 2" lengths from 6" available in hobby shops. Drill holes for leads and file notches. Round off edges and using a 1/4" chisel or screwdriver, raise a .010" ridge by tapping the backside. The switch is designed to be printed at .27mm layer height. Pause print when specific numbers appear near housing, insert contacts, un-pause and let printing finish. A single extruder file is also provided with both parts in place. However, this concept is valid but may need some adjustments during operation. The button movement is very small (.010 designed) and brass thickness might be reduced to avoid high pressure for contact making. It's a proof of concept and needs further testing. A "Do Not Print" stl file with all parts, including metal ones, is also provided. Updates include adding a Go-No-Go gauge to check if contacts fit the print and PLA hinge recommendations.
