The Middelheim Museum stands as a treasured gem in the vibrant city of Antwerp. Its expansive outdoor space and exceptional setting deliver a captivating overview of over one hundred years of artistic innovation. The museum's welcoming art park enchants more than 250,000 visitors every year, drawing them into its world of creative expression. With approximately 400 works of art collected over five decades, the Middelheim Museum presents an outstanding collection that spans from around 1900 to the present day. This extensive range provides a fascinating glimpse into international modern and contemporary art. Every year, the museum adds new works to its collection, showcasing the ever-changing landscape of artistic expression. The park is home to over 215 sculptures created by renowned artists such as Auguste Rodin, Rik Wouters, Henry Moore, Juan Muñoz, Carl Andre, Panamarenko, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, and many more. Majestic trees, broad pathways, and inviting grassy clearings complete the picturesque setting. Each year, the museum invites contemporary artists to engage in a dynamic artistic dialogue with the permanent collection and the park environment. This results in high-profile performances and impressive exhibitions by celebrated artists as well as promising younger talents. These new works are frequently incorporated into the permanent collection. Notable artists like Roman Signer and Ai Weiwei have recently created unique pieces specifically for the museum.
