Before starting it is important to notice that this model is not a finish product, it is more of a concept proposal, so dimensions and position of various items may vary and change. This workbench prototype have been engineer with all the Sovella specifications in mind but also trying to reduce the number of complexes component such as gears,hydraulic components, springs, etc. Reducing this type of components willl contribute to keep the production price as low as possible and also minimise the number of components that needs to be order from an outsourcing company. With that in mind I've try to maximise the number of components that can be processed with conventionnal and usual machinery you would find in a sheet metal factory. An other concern was to minimise the effort the user have to provide to adjust the height of the workbench. To do so I've combined many principles, first the handle provide two contact points allowing the user to use both of is hands (could be done with only one also). Each handle is placed so it is not to close of the rotation center so the couple provide to the threaded rod (in green) is more important. Then the couple apply to the threaded rod is transform into a linear motion by the sliding bloc (dark orange) wich also multiply the original force. Moving foward, the bloc push on two lever (light blue) wich also multiply the input force.Those two lever finaly push on the scisors lift mechanism (light orange) contain in the two legs of the bench.(the scisor are not normaly accessible I've made a cut so we can see it) The speed ans precision of the lifting mechanism could be ajust be choosing a specifical pitch for the threaded rod. Many calculs have been done to make sure the displacement speed, the input force and the travel distance could be obtain. Overall, most of the pieces should be produce easily and because it is all simple basic mechanical principles it should be reliable an also pretty cheap and esay to fix if neeeded.
