Workbench Grommet
thingiverse
Introducing a sturdier version of the desk grommet (as seen on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2411), this gadget is specifically designed to be utilized in workbenches. Unlike conventional grommets that simply rest atop the hole with an edge, this one countersinks into the opening and can be firmly affixed via glue or screws (with 3mm screw holes provided). The lid, inspired by a heavy-duty manhole cover, comprises two parts featuring a hole in the center. This hole is large enough to allow for cable passage or finger access when moving the cap, while simultaneously offering a solid surface for placing objects on top. This design concept aims to facilitate easy cable management within workbenches, all the while providing a stable platform for various items. Note: this model remains untested and includes 2 STL files - one for the grommet, another for the lid (divided into two parts). Additionally, an SKP file is available for those interested in creating derivatives. Print size corresponds to an 80mm hole.
