Workbench

I designed a workbench and desk for my apartment, using only minimal tools. The work surface is crafted from snap-together hardwood flooring, while the frame is constructed from sturdy 2x3" dimensional lumber. I've included the prints as a downloadable PDF. Having built it myself, I picked up a few valuable lessons along the way. In hindsight, I should have made sure the depth of the workbench matched a multiple of the width of the floorboards I used. As a result, I had to borrow a table saw from my dad - luckily he had one on hand. It's clear now that I should have painted the frame before assembly. When working with treated lumber, it's crucial not to sand without wearing a mask. Furthermore, 2x3" dimensional lumber can be hard to find in most hardware stores, so I ended up converting the design to use 2x4" instead. Looking back, there was enough of the epoxy visible between the boards that it would have been worth matching its color with the wood for a more seamless look.
