I couldn't find a dust shoe that fit my workbee CNC perfectly. So, I decided to design one from scratch. I wanted it to stay firmly in place and not move up or down with the spindle. To achieve this, I designed a frame that attaches around the X carriage without needing any holes drilled into it. This frame consists of two parts: a back part and a front cover. To assemble the frame, I first slide on the back part from below and then the front part. These two parts are held together by four screws used to mount the 20x20 aluminum extrusion and one M4 threaded rod on top that tightens the left and right sides together. The left and right arms then slide into the extrusion. The bottom plate is divided into two parts, so the front part, which is secured with 4 magnets (10x5mm round neodymium), can be easily removed for tool changes. The front part of the shoe will be milled out of 10mm acrylic later on. This design accommodates my 65mm diameter water-cooled "China spindle" and a 50mm hose with an inner diameter.
