Work Stand for Open Spider Bot
thingiverse
This stand is designed specifically for working on Regish Shu's Spider Robot, which can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1009659. The need for a sturdy base arose while coding the robot's movement, as debugging becomes nearly impossible when it keeps trying to run off the desk or crash into the monitor. The 4 uprights clip securely into the lower part of the robot, ensuring it won't fall even at full speed, and the stand is tall enough to provide ample space for the legs to flail about freely. I chose not to remove the supports or brim as they add rigidity and weight to the stand, making it more suitable for its intended use. Although it's a bit rough around the edges, it gets the job done without using too much filament. If you decide to remove the supports & brims, keep in mind that the thin wall triangular sections were added solely to prevent the inclined rods from curling up as they cool and fouling the printer nozzle. In theory, these can be removed if desired. My 1.5 kilo spidebot holds steady on this stand, but I cannot guarantee its stability with heavier models.
