The Woolnorth Wind Farm features an impressive collection of sixty-two wind turbines producing a total output of 140 MW of electricity. It's located at Woolnorth (Cape Grim), Tasmania, Australia, with the sole operation being handled by Roaring 40s. As the largest operational facility in the Southern Hemisphere, it boasts thirty-six wind turbines operating from an initial phase that began in August 2002 and consisted of six 1.75 MW turbines, producing twenty-two megawatts of electricity at completion time. The subsequent stages expanded the operation to meet even higher energy demands by installing thirty more turbines and a twenty-eight megawatt increase in generating capacity during the following two years. Ultimately, Stage Three achieved its place among Southern Hemisphere giants with 25 Vestas V90 three MW wind turbines erected between January 2006 and May 2007 at Woolnorth's Studland Bay site. Each of the impressive towers stands high at sixty meters tall.
