Woodworker's Best Friend

This DIY dial indicator for woodworkers uses rare-earth magnets, allowing easy height measurements on machines like thickness planers or router tables. To make it, print and glue together two halves with embedded magnets, then align and clamp them in a vice to dry. After curing the epoxy and acetone, drill a 3/8-inch hole for the dial indicator and attach a nut to create a clamp screw. Smooth the feet on the device using 400-grit sandpaper for accurate measurements. This handy tool typically costs around $10 and makes an excellent gift for fellow woodworkers.
