I liked the idea of the original set, but I preferred also using a squirrel for the rook and I wanted a way of varying the heights of the characters without stretching them out of proportion.NOTE: I sized these pieces to work with 45mm board squares..You may also be interested in my Sectioned Magnetic Chessboard +Box, with Chess Notation Labels and 45mm Interlocking Squares, which I designed to store these pieces.Print SettingsPrinter Brand:CrealityPrinter: Ender 3Rafts:NoSupports: NoResolution:0.12mm-0.2mmInfill: 10%-30%Filament: eSun PLA+ Brown Notes: Horizontal print lines can look a little "off" when we expect squirrel fur to be vertical, so I prefer to print with a small layer height. Since I am adding weight, I use just enough infill to act as internal support for these pieces.I print ed one piece at a time, at 50mm/s infill print speed, 25mm Wall print speed, with Coasting enabled, linear advance, arc support, infill before walls, Z-hop when retract, etc., to minimize the risk of zits and strings.Post-PrintingI have a soft-spot for weighty chess pieces.,These pieces each have a hollowed-out base to which you can add a mix of steel slingshot balls and BB's. I have also provided 1mm base "caps" to superglue over the weight cavity.FInally, I affix a small circle of felt to the bottom of these pieces, using 3M two-sided tape. How I Designed ThisI hit upon the idea of standing each of the backrow characters onto a short stump (Thing 3798488 was ideal for this) & I then varied the stump heights to vary the character's relative heights.I added a small flat egg-shaped primitive to the queen’s crown, to make that feature easier to see.I added a small cross to the crown on a copy of the queen piece, to make a king with a more classical and obvious distinction from the queen. I also scaled him slightly fatter, as befits his position. Category: Chess
