Wooden Knot Cross Puzzle, OCC, Three Pieces, Kong Ming Lock This is a deceptively simple yet captivating cross knot puzzle consisting of three interlocking pieces. Its origins may date back to ancient China, specifically to the era of Zhuge Liang (also known as Kongming, AD 181-234). Although it appears straightforward, solving this puzzle requires careful planning in three-dimensional design. One must decipher the physical constraints that govern its mechanics. While each piece's length is largely arbitrary, its width must be precisely three times its thickness. Additionally, a critical factor to consider is the tolerance, making this an excellent introductory project for STEM educators and their students. Yes, a moderate level of difficulty is beneficial! In the current design, I have incorporated a 0.5mm tolerance into the OCC slots and a 0.25mm tolerance into the opening to ensure smooth sliding action for children. Two distinct styles are available, each featuring varying widths and lengths. Enjoy the challenge!
