Ganesha, a revered deity in Hinduism, is widely recognized for his ability to overcome and eliminate obstacles. Using an innovative Raspberry Pi-based DIY 3D laser scanner, equipped with free software, allowed for a detailed scan of the statue. The setup consisted of a Turntable + Lasers (Ciclop DIY Scanner), a 3D Scan Camera (Raspberry Camera Module V2), and a Texture Camera (Rasberry HQ Camera co-calibrated) to capture high-quality images. Real-time processing was facilitated by a Raspberry PI 4, while meshing was performed using CloudCompare, and automated texturing was achieved through Meshlab. Data acquisition involved two dual laser scans, which collectively took approximately 10 minutes and yielded over 11 million data points, in addition to 36 texture images captured within five minutes. Additional information about the 3D scanner project can be found at www.lilscan.com.
