Wooden Egyptian Block
sketchfab
Fragment of wood, expertly painted over gesso with bold strokes of red and blue on a vibrant yellow background, featuring some white accents on the reverse side. The front boasts the top portion of a stylized frieze, showcasing alternating uraei and Maat feathers: below, a decorative metopal border, which also frames the central scene. In contrast, the decoration on the back features three larger standing figures, although they are unfortunately badly damaged. Dating to the 21st-22nd Dynasty (1085-730 BC), this artifact showcases exceptional craftsmanship. A slot for a dowel is prominently displayed in the top right corner. Resting atop a sturdy mahogany plinth (not visible in this image). Measuring 8 5/5 inches by 10 1/8 inches, or approximately 219mm by 257mm.
