Wooden Dowel Coat Hook - Modern Style, Chunky
thingiverse
I needed a coat rack or coat hooks for the entry to my house. Saw a modern all-wood chunky coat hook on Pinterest, a set of four was $50. I figured I could make them out of heavy dowels from the hardware store and some 3D-printed mounts. Mine came out to just under $3 for four. The Dowels used were from Lowes: Madison Mill 0.875" x 48" Round Poplar Dowel The screw holes were made to be a tight fit for #6 screws which I used with 20lb drywall anchors, but any similar screw would work, or you could expand the holes in Blender if needed. I sanded the elephant foot off the PLA mounts, cut the dowels to length (4" in my case) and sanded them down to 800 grit, applied stain, fixed the mounts to the wall, then finally inserted the Dowels into the mounts. The dowels are a tight fit, but you could use epoxy or woodglue if you like.
