Wood train depot

Wood train depot

thingiverse

This is an octagonal depot / roudhouse designed specifically for Ikea trains, as well as Thomas and Hape wood train enthusiasts. Although it was inspired by the Ikea turntable (LILLABO), this design should be compatible with other brands. The garage uses a door from Thingiverse's 2396178, a popular online repository of user-created 3D printing models. Cardboard is used extensively in the construction of this depot to minimize filament and print time. The grooves are designed to accommodate up to 2.5mm thick cardboard sheets, which should be cut into 93mm high sections before being secured with standard glue. The design includes three roof options: a basic roof, a heli-roof that can be customized, and a second basic roof for added versatility. Cardboard can also be used as an alternative to the printed roofs. This depot was created using Fusion 360, a powerful CAD software tool, and the file is available for download.
