Wood Thread Cutting Jig
thingiverse
This is a clever jig designed specifically to help create wood threads in dowels with precision. The initial model excels at cutting threads in 1 1/4" dowels, boasting an impressive 6 TPI (threads per inch). To utilize this jig effectively, you'll need to secure it into the opening of a router table, making sure it's firmly locked in place. Next, insert a 60-degree V-bit into the router and carefully adjust its height until the tip perfectly aligns with the depth of the thread in the jig. You may need to make some fine adjustments to achieve optimal results. Once everything is set up correctly, simply turn on the router and feed the dowel slowly into the guide end (the end without threads), while gently turning it clockwise. After a few turns, the dowel should catch hold, allowing the threads of the jig to effortlessly pull it through at the correct rate, ensuring perfectly formed wood threads every time.
