Wood Catan
thingiverse
It all started for a lark, during the summer months many people enjoy playing Catan, I played a couple of times and emerged victorious (they say it's beginner's luck). Subsequently, the idea of creating my own Catan game arose, initially for entertainment purposes, then to see the game completed and brought to life by me. I began searching the internet for Catan designs in .dxf format to cut out using a laser cutter, which led me to a very appealing model but with too many intricate details. I made gradual modifications, also tweaking the development cost cards to suit my taste. In the end, I was satisfied with my final creation. Not long after, I decided to craft boxes to keep the game organized, the only drawback being that the board is not detachable (I didn't want to compromise its integrity). As a result, it doesn't fit inside the box, but that's beside the point. The entire game was constructed using 3mm thick MDF boards (I purchased 40cm x 40cm sheets), the resource cards were printed with attached caps and then thermolaminated, and finally, once I finished creating the boxes, I assembled their respective lids with 1-inch hinges. I'm thrilled with the final outcome :)
