Women of Steel - right-side head

myminifactory

This is a scan of the head of the rightmost woman in the magnificent Women of Steel sculpture located in Sheffield city centre in the UK. The sculpture honours the significance of women in the Sheffield steel industry, particularly during times of war when their contributions were instrumental in keeping the industry running. If you're also interested in the woman's head on the left side, a link to view it is provided below: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-women-of-steel-left-side-head-99788. During my scanning process, I encountered a local man who shared more about the sculpture's history. He was enthusiastic about the scan because he believed that more souvenirs should be available to commemorate the sculpture, such as small-scale models. This scan may serve as a nice keepsake for those visiting Sheffield. I printed the head at approximately 40mm in height and utilized a combination of sanding, priming, and water-based enamel to achieve a smooth finish. This allowed me to create a detailed mould using two-part silicon, from which I've produced a resin version with fine white sand filler. A photo of both the printed model and the resin cast is attached for your reference. The scan was executed using the Sony 3D Creator app on an Xperia XZ1 Compact smartphone, which effectively captured the intricate shape of the sculpture.
