Wombot Exilis extruder carriage (no sensor mount)

thingiverse

This is an alternative remix of the original Wombot Exilis extruder carriage, minus the mount for the auto bed level sensor.\nUse this if you manually calibrate the bed or don't require the sensor, and have instead installed another height sensing system.\nI personally wanted to try a different sensor, so I chose the one available at http://aus3d.com.au/ir-z-probe. This setup utilizes modulated infra-red LEDs for precise proximity detection to the print surface, and since it is modulated, other light sources won't interfere as easily.\nSo far, I am thoroughly satisfied with this sensor's performance after three weeks of daily use, and haven't had to re-adjust it yet. It appears very consistent and reliable.\nThe bracket for mounting this sensor can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1229765\nView a demonstration here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMpap_Wuymk\nPlease note, there's nothing inherently wrong with the original Wombot capacitive ABL sensor; it performs well once you've fine-tuned it.\nThis alternative setup is not an official upgrade for the Wombot printer design but rather a personal project I did for my own testing purposes.
