Woman with Monkey at The Petit Palais, Paris

myminifactory

Woman with Monkey consists of a daring assembly of gilt bronze elements - the head and hands - paired with pieces of enamelled stoneware mounted on a sturdy wood and iron structure, held together by a mortar of crushed brick with joints in coloured plaster. Hauntingly elegant and mysterious, this work is deeply rooted in the symbolist image of the femme fatale holding an admirer captive in chains, yet also draws inspiration from the neo-medieval style that was unique to its creator. This object forms part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory, through which we are building a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to discover how you can participate.
