Jules Desbois began his artistic journey as a student of the renowned Auguste Rodin in Paris circa 1900. In 1905, he unveiled the striking Femme a l'arc (Woman with Bow) at the prestigious salon of the National Society of Fine Arts, showcasing his mastery over clean lines and precise craftsmanship. The sculpture, purchased by the city of Paris for the esteemed Petit Palais museum, featured an elegant subject holding a bow between her outstretched arms. Born on December 20, 1851, in Parçay-les-Pins, Jules Desbois would go on to become a celebrated French sculptor and medalist engraver. Following his apprenticeship in a Touraine workshop, Desbois joined the Angers studio of Henri Bouriché before enrolling at the prestigious Beaux Arts in Paris in 1874. For five years, he honed his skills under the guidance of Jules Cavelier, a former pupil of David d'Angers.
