Woman or goddess

myminifactory

Woman or goddess, Roman adaptation after a model from around 430-420 BC, crafted by Italian artisans, discovered in Italy, made of marble, with inv. A.3682 (acquired by the Vatican Museums in 1969). Currently on display at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Brussels, Belgium's Cinquantenaire Museum. Captured with CapturingReality. This fragmentary sculpture showcases a female figure draped in a tunic (chiton) and a cloak (himation), reflecting a fashion trend that emerged in Attic sculpture around the middle of the fifth century BC, mirroring the style of Parthenon sculptures. The figure is likely inspired by a statue created between 430-420 BC but was adapted for representation as Fortune, possibly due to a hole in the upper left arm indicating the attachment of an object like the great cornucopia that the goddess leans on this arm.
