Wolverine Reflecta F2D Adapter for 7-inch Reels 8mm Super8 Digitizer
thingiverse
The Wolverine F2D Film Digitizer handles up to 5-inch reels of 8mm or Super8 film. This allows you to use 7-inch reels. I saw other setups here and found them to be complex and require bearings, wood, screws, clamps etc. This one uses only 3D printed objects - with one part being TPU if you don't have a large enough rubber band on hand. See the pictures to put it together. Print all parts in 0.3 layers of PLA at 20% infill except: Print the DRIVE BELT in TPU or use a large rubber band Supports required for: REEL HUB BASE ARM Potential Tweaks: I found it was more reliable with more tension on the drive belt. If you need more tension for the drive belt, tie a rubber band around the top of the arm and hang something from it. I used a tape measure. A wide take-up reel that isn't warped will help too. This device is really slow for rewinding. 7-inch reels only make it worse. I use a projector to make quick work of it. You could create a larger drive hub for rewinding if you want - just like changing gears on a bicycle. The pin holding the take-up reel is quick and dirty. I don't think the reel will fall off without it. I didn't put much time into it. Perfection is the enemy of good enough, but a snap-fit end and direct reel mounting would work too.
