You call yourself a patriot? Every boy and man must have his trusty SMG! The Submachine Gun or SMG is a reliable automatic weapon available in Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, serving as the standard-issue primary weapon of the Allied Forces in 1946. It's the first weapon picked up by the player. The Submachine Gun is a fast-firing firearm with a large magazine capacity and minimal recoil, making it perfect for close-quarters combat or sniping. Ammunition for this weapon is readily available due to its shared pickup type with the Handgun 1946, but reckless firing would still lead to ammo shortages. Although convenient to have, the Submachine Gun is soon surpassed by the significantly more effective Assault Rifle 1946, which can be obtained from the first enemy soldier encountered. Compared to its replacement, the Submachine Gun is substantially weaker and harder to get ammo for, limiting its usefulness in combat situations. It does not make an appearance after the timeskip and lacks a 1960 counterpart.
