Wojtek The Polish Soldier Bear 28mm
thingiverse
I'm building a 28mm model of Wojtek, a real-life WW2 Polish hero whose story is so remarkable it deserves its place in history, and I think he'd be an awesome addition to my Bolt Action and other miniature gaming tables. Wojtek's incredible tale can be read here: https://insh.world/history/wojtek-the-bear-that-went-to-war/ I started by using a 28mm file and created a Brodie helmet and howitzer shell in Tinkercad. Don't let my painting skills fool you – I figure that from 24 inches away, no one will notice. The real Wojtek wasn't part of the gun crew, but he was an artilleryman. If given the chance, I'm sure he would have eagerly joined the team. That's why I plan to use him as a gunner in my Bolt Action games. Personally, I think Wojtek deserves special character status in Bolt Action – any enemy unit attempting to assault the gun should have to pass a morale check with a -2 penalty. Who wouldn't be intimidated by this fearless bear? I built these models for fun and to honor Wojtek's bravery and tenacity, which are qualities that represent Poland perfectly.
