Wobbly Chess Set
thingiverse
This chess set was designed using SketchUp to hone new skills. Featuring rounded, weighted bases on concave squares, it adds an interesting twist to traditional chess boards. Thanks to PerryT for inspiring the board base design. Printing this project took approximately 60 hours and proved challenging, but it's perfect for avid chess fans or those looking to elevate their 3D printing abilities. Successfully completing this print will earn you recognition among the 3D printing community. A single pawn, as well as sets of rooks, knights, bishops, a king, and a queen in both black and white are now available for download. All chess pieces can be printed without support and at 10% infill, with higher percentages resulting in stronger builds but longer print times. To assemble, print 8 white and 8 black pawns; 2 sets of each piece in black and white; 32 grey or oppositely-colored base pieces; and 32 black and white board squares. The bases can be weighted with pennies or lead shot, and all pieces should be sanded and glued together for a snug fit. Have fun!
