Wobbler Hobbler
thingiverse
An improved wobbler arrester is derived from twotimes' original design, featuring several changes. Firstly, a new z-guide replaces the clamp, connecting smooth stabilizing rods to the acrylic stand via bolting through the top of the stand using existing holes for z-floats. The modified z-float includes an additional bolt hole, enabling attachment to the z-guide for increased support. Secondly, a spring is built into the z-guide to counteract acrylic stand expansion due to heated build platform and alignment imperfections of rods, while still allowing z-floats' flexible springs to absorb most wobbling. However, this design remains untested on the author's bot, as larger Acme threaded rods may be the future. The wobbler hobbler is an inexpensive hack that some might find interesting, but issues with current parts have led the author to post instructions for others to take over. Required components include two smooth rods, four bushings, and four retaining rails from twotimes' approach, as well as two z-floats for the back of the bot. The z-guides sit in front, connecting rods to the acrylic stand with extra large bolt holes for variation tolerance. Z-floats are placed under the stand and connect it to z-rod screws through shared bolt holes with z-guides. Both components bolt together for added support.
