The Bealin High Cross is a magnificent 8th-century high cross situated on the Twyford demesne estate, its current location a departure from where it originally stood. Some historians believe it may have originated at Clonmacnoise, as evidenced by an entry in Blaymires' 17th-century view of the site, which identifies it as Cross R. However, there is no conclusive proof that the Bealin High Cross ever resided at Clonmacnoise during its lifetime. A prayer inscribed on the west face, "Oroit Ar Tuathgail Las Dernath In Chrossa," may reference an abbot of Clonmacnoise and provide insight into the cross's possible origins. The Bealin High Cross was surveyed as part of the Westmeath Heritage Plan in January 2018, with funding provided by Westmeath County Council.
