WLToys 12428 front differential gasket
thingiverse
I've been battling with my Wltoys 12427 (same as the 12428) because of its noisy front differential, an issue I'm not alone in facing as you can see on rcgroups.com where one person has shared their experience in great detail. To tackle this problem, I decided to design a gasket for the front differential gearbox and print it out using my 3D printer in PLA. And to my relief, it did reduce the noise significantly - a lot less than before, in fact! It makes perfect sense that it would improve performance as well as battery life. I set the thickness of the gasket to 0.5mm which is approximately 0.0197 inches and it consists of two parts: an upper half and a lower half. For me, the lower half was sufficient, but if you need a thicker one, just upscale the Z-axis in your slicer software. As for the rear diff gear box, I found that loosening the screws a bit did the trick for me.
