WLToys 104001 2S Shorty Hard Case Battery Mounting Kit

This is kit is designed to allow a standard 2S shorty lipo hard case battery pack to be mounted in the WLToys 104001 4wd buggy. If you want to race your 104001, a hard case battery is a requirement of most racing organizations such as ROAR. When slicing the "BatteryBracesL&R" file, you will want to use custom supports since one side/leg is taller than the other to allow for the height of the plastic side pan. I also strongly recommend printing all the parts with a raft of at least 4mm to reduce the chance the parts detaching from the print bed. Since some of the parts are quite thin, allow the bed to cool before removing them to prevent warping. You'll need to drill out the holes in the battery braces... don't go to big, try a 2mm bit first and use M3 hardware. The holes in the small tabs that go on top of the battery brackets/braces should be drilled out so an M3 screw passes easily. They are mainly there to hold a battery strap when there is no battery in place. You'll probably want to get battery strap in the 300mm-350mm length depending on the size of your shorty packs. Also note that there is a front and a rear battery brace. Since one side of the brace sits on the aluminum chassis, the other side is shorter because it sits on the plastic side rail. The L shaped piece creates a level surface for the battery and keeps the battery from contacting the rear driveshaft. Use thin 2 sided tape to mount it to the chassis.
