The wire line Blowout Preventer (BOP) system represents one crucial aspect of blowout preventers on drilling and workover rigs, providing the necessary functions for safe shutdown operations on both wells and blowouts. In contrast to a typical well-control method involving pipes and tubing inserted into a well to engage pressure by shutting off with either a BOP stack on a blowout preventer unit or simply an underground plug from down hole pumps. The Blow Out Preventer (BOP) functions include shut off for drill string, seal BOP's stack annulus at any depth above or below the lower plug setting shoe and provides means of applying sufficient surface pressure for control purposes such as circulating well pressure away and through drill pipe system. The Wire line system serves a couple more purposes in its BOP stack to maintain proper BOP functioning while providing an important method in shutting off well from all sides. With one or multiple wire lines (as the case may be) connected on top, running wires across pipes from down below surface, as drilling moves upward they're constantly being fed. Each end attached into respective connections ensuring secure tight sealing action at desired position without any pressure loss due leakage throughout their life span when in operation over various lengths till finally completion of all jobs involved such workovers.
