With Shoes

I made a snail for my coworker's grandson as a friendly gesture, which caught her daughter's attention, who in turn dared me to craft a centipede from assorted shoes with unique colors for her own son. I obliged, enlarging the original design by a significant 200% scale to result in an approximately 7-inch-long by 5.5-inch-wide figurine. This allowed the centipede's multiple limbs to accommodate the vibrant footwear within the narrow contours of its body. Given the complexity involved, I rescaled it for someone willing to replicate this creature. A tweak was necessary using a hot air gun to manipulate the curved areas of the model into place, ensuring each shoe was securely nestled inside without issue. The piece printed in an upside-down orientation with both raft and supports, facilitating smoother post-processing to remove unnecessary structures from around its multiple legs. This intricate build came to life through my 5th-generation Makerbot 3D printer.
