Inspired by the creativity of cerberus333's minnow and dragon fly fishing lure moulds, I decided to design a witchety grub lure with great potential for success. Using silicone sealant to craft the grub, despite being uncertain if fish will find it attractive, was worth a try given that I had already printed a reel. To enhance its appearance, you can easily add color using food dye. Printer Settings Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm - 0.1mm Infill: 25% Post-Printing Techniques for Fish Attractors To create fish-friendly silicone sealant molds, I sprayed them with canola oil but recommend using some form of release agent or the material will stick. To ensure a smooth surface, use cardboard to gently flatten out the mold faces. Let the halves dry in the sun or a warm location; this should take just a couple of hours on an Australian summer day. Next, carefully pull the grub halves from their molds and join them together using more silicone sealant that has been colored with food dye beforehand. If you prefer a slower drying time, you can attach the halves with tie wire or small zip ties. Designing This Project I employed Blender to create the model of the witchety grub and utilized the boolean tool to craft its female halves.
