Wismec RX GEN3 Soft Armor
thingiverse
This is a protective sleeve for the WISMEC Reuleaux RX GEN3 battery case. It's designed to be printed from flexible materials, and I used TPU as my material of choice. A snug fit is achieved by using a thigh design, making it unsuitable for hard materials. The hole for the USB plug has been removed to prevent charging inside the sleeve, which could potentially lead to overheating issues. There are four models available: two with flutes at the back and two without, as well as two models with a recess for the ring of my Uwell Crown 4 cap and two without. Printing tall parts with fine details in flexible materials can be quite challenging. To overcome this, I've integrated support into the model that must be removed after printing, as shown in the images. It's also essential to print with settings suitable for soft materials. The acceleration and jerk values need to be reduced significantly to preserve fine details: Acceleration should not exceed 500 units per second for moves with extrusion. Jerk should not exceed 4 units per second. The Linear Advance values are surprisingly crucial for flexible materials, so it's a good idea to tune them in accordance with your specific material and machine (see https://marlinfw.org/docs/features/lin_advance.html). These changes can be added directly to the G-Code: M900 K3.5; Linear Advance V1.5 Marlin 1.19 and above M204 P500 R700 T1000; Printing acceleration P=>extrusion R=>retraction T=>travel M205 X4 Y4; X/Y max jerk (units/s)
