Wireless Phone Charging case
thingiverse
This is a case for a wireless phone charger that can be bought online. A micro-usb cable plugs into one end of the charger. It looks like the charger was removed from unsold or possibly repaired merchandise. The first unit I got worked, but only briefly. It seemed to have a faulty solder connection, so I received a replacement that functioned properly. The wireless phone charger appears to need a gap of around 2-3 mm between the phone and the coil for it to work correctly. A piece of cardboard could be used as a substitute. However, the charger gets quite hot when charging is in progress. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can download a design I created using OpenSCAD and print out your own case. The phone needs to be centered over the coil for it to function correctly, so I designed a top with a cutout specifically for my Samsung S6, which I use to play Clash Royale. The wireless phone charger works well once everything is in place. Once I get my new 3D printer up and running, I plan on using flexible filament to create a holder that will grip the phone better. For now, blue tape does the job of keeping the S6 from sliding around. Putting an iPhone X on the charger also works just fine.
