Wireframe Hexasphericon
cults3d
Inspired by MakersMuse and MakeAnything, I experimented with a wireframe version of a hexaspericon and came up with something that prints in just over an hour, weighs around 8 grams, and rolls almost like the real thing. It should be able to snap together without any hassle. The rolling motion is smooth, but not quite as silky as the real deal. I suspect this is because getting the half-circles' points aligned perfectly can be a bit finicky, and using a 45-degree tapered angle instead of 60 degrees or more makes it even trickier. Any tips to improve this design would be super welcome!
