Wire Straightener
thingiverse
This is a straightforward device designed to straighten wire as it unwinds from a spool. It comes in two versions: a single unit that combines a spool holder with a straightener, or a simpler clip that can be left on the wire if it's coming off a separate holder. The focus of this design is on simplicity and dependability. There are no adjustments to make on the device itself - all adjustments have been made in CAD dimensions and/or slicer settings. This will require some initial investment of time, but once set up correctly, you'll have a tool that never falls apart and never needs re-adjusting. The STL files posted online have been specifically tuned for my spool of 18 gauge copper wire and my printer. If you need to make adjustments for minor variations in your printer's behavior or a different wire diameter, simply copy the Onshape CAD file (a free account is available for makers) and edit the dimensions as needed.
