Wire Spool Holder 50mm Diameter
thingiverse
I bought some wire and needed a convenient way to store them, so I modelled a little spool for them. Inside diameter is 20mm, outside is 50mm. I added a hole in the centre to put the wire in, making winding the wire easier, and there are two sets of three holes on the outside edges. One set is 2mm in diameter, one is 3mm. These are used to secure the other end of the wire or you could use a rubber band. Note that the holes may print smaller depending on your printer's accuracy; a quick scoop with something sharp will sort that out. Print: Two spool halves Three sliders I included various sizes of the insert sliders to use, depending on your printer's accuracy. They are all 2mm shorter than the space provided but differ in thickness. I recommend using the -0.0 for the tightest fit and knocking them in with a hammer if necessary. Note that if you print the sliders without a raft, the first layer will make them a tighter fit than intended while the rest of it is loose; you'll need to trim or sand down the edge of the bottom layer. To build: Gently tap the sliders into the three matching grooves in one half of the spool. Then place the second spool half on top and gently tap it down. If the fit is too tight, see above notes about the slider inserts sizing and/or print a smaller size slider.
