Wire Gauge
thingiverse
I searched for a wire gauge model to print but couldn't find one, so I created my own. The design is accurate according to the American Wire Gauge (AWG) standard. The gauge ranges from AWG-0 to AWG-30, and the precision of the sizes depends on your printer's accuracy. Each gauge number corresponds to a specific diameter cut-out next to it. I printed the model in PLA, but I found that the smallest gauges (25-30) were quite tight. This print is also a great way to test your printer's settings and capabilities. Here's how to use this wire gauge model: * When measuring electric wire, remove any plastic insulation to ensure you're measuring only the core. * The horizontal gap at the outermost point represents the diameter referred to by the gauge number. This is where the wire goes to determine its size. * The circular section acts as a conduit for wires that can fit through the gap, allowing them to be easily removed after passing through. If you search online for "wire gauge," you'll find more information and details about the AWG standard. I appreciate it if you share your printed model with others.
