Update 4.11.18 I've finally added some essential components to this project. It's amusing... I've been working with electronics for a long time now, yet I never bothered to get one of those handy extra hands gadgets to help me with soldering. Oh, the contortions I went through when my fingers ran out! Enough is enough! Yes, I could easily buy a set for next to nothing... but where's the fun in that if I can make something myself? Wire Bird? That's what I decided to call it because the example.stl file looks like a little bird. Use? The purpose should be pretty obvious; holding wires while soldering or similar tasks. Wire Bird comes with an array of parts: -Base.stl is the base unit. The clever part here is that it has a well for things like flux, solder, and whatever else you need. It also has space for up to six attachments if you really want them. The more clever part is that the well in the middle can fit a standard AA battery, making it double as a holder while keeping your contraption stable... it's no good if your hands keep falling over when you're trying to use them! You can even hold multiple batteries with Base 3 or 4. -Base_2, 3, and 4 are variations on the base unit, providing more options at the cost of a bit more filament. -Socket_Arm.stl is the standard connector between the base and other parts. -Extender.stl does exactly what it says - it extends something. -Pincher.stl is my attempt at creating a printed wire-holding device. -Arm.stl, Ball.stl, Socket.stl, and Tube.stl are part files to make production of further parts easier. -Example.stl isn't really meant for printing... they say "a picture tells a thousand words". Hopefully, after all these years, I'll finally find soldering less frustrating and less painful.
