WORK IN PROGRESS - this is a modular holding system with wall-mounting plates, storage bins (full and half height), shelves (normal and wide widths), and single- and double-height mountplates for attaching to arbitrary boxes and other containers with at least one flat edge. The idea I'm working with here is a projects-in-progress storage system where you can grab a single container off the wall and in doing so have grabbed a project in progress to work on. Originally it was just going to be mountplates that could be attached to any box. But then I started adding more types of accessories, and made bins and shelves. And I've recently realised that you can take any one of the wall modules and put them wherever you want and attach any accessory you want and that's also useful, so more accessory types might be in order, like maybe a mountplate that has hooks like for keys and stuff. The prints shown here are all 1.0mm nozzle drafts so don't go at me about print quality, it's all very much still work-in-progress. But if you have ideas for more accessories (beyond shelves, bins, mountplates) let me know, I might want to add storage types. I haven't made anything with a lid yet, for example. ETA 2023/2/24: I've found that I have some use for single, free-floating-ish wall mounting points, not just the main collected wall unit. And I've put up near my work desk. I tried using Command Strips, but they kept coming off the PLA. Then I tried carpet tape and that did the same thing, it just took longer. So then I tried plastic-epoxy to add a layer of aluminium foil on the back of the wall plate and that held to the PLA, but the other adhesives still kept coming off. So I made a version with nail holes. I'm also using removable poster tape. But the nails are doing most of the work. And it's so much better that I've uploaded the .STL, making this the first official project update. More to come! ETA 2023/5/30: I decided the boxes were ugly / inadequate, so I've come up with a graphic system to reference and make visible boxes stored in, say, a nearby closet. These would be for larger projects that don't fit on one of the shelves or bins, letting them be put elsewhere while still remaining visible. The new number plates are intended to have a writing area, you can attach notes or better yet some sort of dry-erase material and use dry-erase markers on them. (That's my plan, but since I'm out of that at the moment I went with notes for demonstration purposes.) The heights of each surface on the plate are staggered so that you can make them all different colours even with a single-nozzle printer like mine. ^_^ These were printed with Filament Friday extra-high-speed profiles too, so you don't have to worry about being fussy with settings. Then you take them and glue or double-sided-tape them to either the single-height or double-height box mounts, giving you a purpose for your old box-mounts, and also making the single-height mount actually practical for something since it was the weakest part of this design so far. Now it's a number holder and has a purpose again. ^_^ If you build any of this and have any feedback please let me know. I'm finding it very useful but I'm only one data point. Thanks!
