*WIP* Prusa i3 Ussuri Bear
thingiverse
I added the Aluminum Extrusion STL so I can share this project now. Ever sat in front of your spare parts and thought, "There's a whole new printer hidden here, but which design fits..."? If so, you know exactly how this project started. An upgrade kit based on the Prusa i3 Bear kit got me going. I had plenty of 2040 aluminum profiles laying around and some sweet ball screws. This would have been a match if we were using Tinder. Unfortunately, there were no parts or upgrades available that could use those ball screws. So I started my own "fork" of the Prusa Bear, naming it Ussuri (black Grizzly). Feedback, thoughts, and prayers are welcome. This design is based on: The Prusa i3 MK2.5 and the Prusa i3 Bear I'm standing on the shoulders of giants as the saying goes. Join me on Twitch if you want to take a peek over my shoulder while I work on this design. Current status I rebooted the project now that I've found the perfect spindle in the part called SFU1204. It's affordable, comes with industrial-grade mounts, and is available to the public through various resellers. The Y-axis is placed on two MGN12c rails. Another solid, yet affordable part. Finished parts BF/BK10 spacers Planned features I want to integrate my recirculating ball screws into this project. So I'm looking forward to creating parts and attachments that will provide the printer with these features: Energy chains for all axes Mounts for diagonal reinforcement rods (to stabilize the tower) Mounting points for RepRap-FullColor Display X-sled for the "side mount" Toranado Extruder Improved spool holder
