~This is a work in progress. I will finish designing the base of the skimmer once I have my pump to work with ___ ___ ___ CHANGELOG 6/30/17- Finished the lower body, updated the upper neck profile, and resized the parts to fit a 1/8" thick, 6" wide acrylic tube. 6/23/17- Rounded off the bottom of the upper neck for aesthetics. ___ ___ ___ Seeing that protein skimmers cost so much for an assembly of acrylic tubes and plastic, I figured that it would be possible to make a replica of one for less than half the cost! This skimmer is designed with the pump in the reaction chamber itself, to save space for those with smaller sumps (like mine). You will need around 18 inches of height in your sump area to comfortably house this skimmer. Aside from the 3D printed parts, you will also need: -A foot of 6" OD, 1/8" thick acrylic tubing for the walls of the collection cup and lower skimmer body -A Jebao DC-1200 pump kit. I purchased a replacement pump that comes with a needle wheel impeller and an intake silencer from Fish Street: http://www.fish-street.com/coral_box_dc_skimmer_pump -A gasket ring for the upper neck, to seal the connection between it and the collection cup. -4x M5 nylon thumbscrews for the bottom base. If you can't find any, try printing some out with this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2175820 ___ ___ ___ Assembly video is coming, once I finish designing this!
