Inkscape offers a straightforward method for transforming a .jpg or .bmp image into a 3D mesh. To do this, first trace the bitmap using Inkscape's tools, then export it as a vector file. Next, open the file in Blender and extrude the shape to your desired thickness. Convert it to a mesh, refine the faces, and finally, export the finished .stl file. This technique is more efficient than manually tracing reference images using Bezier curves.
