**Make Your Own Bamboo Framed Wing** By Randell Daniel Co Are you ready to create an epic costume wing? Follow these steps to make your very own bamboo framed wing, just like the Incursio Evolve from Akami Ga Kill. Your friend will thank you for this awesome DIY project. I prototyped three versions of this wing, and it's time to share my expertise with you. **Gather Your Materials** * Bamboo (diameter 1.5cm) * Glue gun * Mighty ban * 3D printer * Metal skewer stick * Zip tie (these wings get heavy, so be prepared for some 3D print breakage) * Metal or wooden stick (min 45cm) **Warning: Be Prepared for Some Challenges** This project may require some trial and error. Tiny variations in joint angles can drastically change the wing shape. Depending on size and material, your 3D prints might break. To prevent damage, connect the ends of the wings with metal. **Watch a Tutorial to Get Started** Check out this video: https://youtu.be/y9G45rBRPyU Print Settings: * Printer: Dremel Idea Builder 3D20 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: Fast * Infill: 80%~100% Why the high infill? These joints need to support a whole wing. Even with 100% infill, it's still breaking on the body and lock of the joints. **Post-Printing Tips** Glue the body and lock of all joints with mighty ban or use a glue gun (though this might be weaker). **How I Designed This Wing** I experimented with two designs: 1. Axled design using strings to pull the wings open. (This was tough, and it only opened one axle out of three.) 2. Bamboo with popsicle joints. (This was too weak, but it proved the concept works.) **Inspiration Strikes** I took a cue from a portable umbrella. I studied its measurements and scaled them up to create this wing. I chose bamboo because it's strong and flexible like metal. Almost all my materials can be found at Canadian Dollarama. Get creative and have fun making your own bamboo framed wing!
