2/26/2017 UPDATE: I've now included the Bottle Drying Tree Body in two versions. One features 1/4 inch holes, while the other has 3/8 inch holes for heavier bottles. The labels clearly indicate which is which. If you're concerned about the 1/4 inch dowels flexing with heavier bottles, simply use the 3/8 inch version instead! Download whichever one suits your needs. Depending on your machine's accuracy, you might need to sand the ends of the dowels slightly to ensure a snug fit. I recommend scaling down the legs to 99% in your slicer for easier insertion into the base. My original tolerances were a bit too tight, so this adjustment should help. As an amateur winemaker with about three years of experience under my belt, I've come to realize that existing bottle drying racks just don't cut it. I stumbled upon one designed by buzzsaw2222, but it was geared towards smaller beer bottles and wasn't sturdy enough to hold heavier wine bottles without risking breakage. That's not exactly what I'm looking for. I took the design as inspiration, but completely tore it down and rebuilt it from scratch. My version boasts a 6-bottle capacity per Body segment you print, with each bottle secured by 1/4 inch wood dowels that can be cut to your desired length (six inches work well). The setup also features drainage that directs sanitizing solution away from the countertop and into the sink, thanks to one of the legs. This allows for convenient placement beside a sink. To address issues with flatness on the bottom of the legs, I added ball feet that enable the tree to sit securely on uneven surfaces. Simply flip the legs over, tap in the feet until they stop, assemble, and test for flatness on the countertop. The initial Complete Kit was designed to fit a 200mm X 200mm print bed, but I've also included the parts separately so you can print them however you like. If printing separately, you'll need: 1) Bottle Drying Tree Draining Base 1) Bottle Drying Tree Body (or multiple for increased capacity) 1) Bottle Drying Tree Draining Leg 3) Bottle Drying Tree Legs 8) Bottle Drying Tree Feet Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result. If you want to dry more bottles, simply print additional Body segments and build the tree higher. However, be sure not to exceed four Body segments for stability's sake. Also, evenly space your bottles across from each other if you're not filling up one segment completely. This will prevent any "Leaning Tower of Pisa" effect and potential instability. You wouldn't want to risk breaking those precious wine bottles or cutting yourself on broken glass! Four segments yield 24 bottles, which is roughly equivalent to a five-gallon batch of wine – with a couple glasses left over for your own tasting pleasure!
