The ball joint of my windshield wiper pole lost its connection to the motor because the ball socket was severely worn out due to heavy use. I initially attempted to fix it by applying some rubber, but I soon realized that a more permanent solution was needed. Apparently, replacing just the worn-out parts is not an option; instead, the entire pole has to be replaced at a significant cost of over 100 EUR. In search of a more affordable and DIY-friendly alternative, I aimed to find a way to secure the ball socket in place while ensuring that the main force remained concentrated on the ball joint. Given that a part encasing the ball joint doesn't require excessive strength, as it's primarily designed to support the weight of the wiper arm, I decided to design a small protective casing for the ball joint. This casing would effectively keep the ball socket in place and prevent further wear and tear. I successfully installed this DIY solution on my windshield wiper pole and was pleased with the results. Unfortunately, I forgot to capture the final photo, but a video is available for those interested. So far, everything works perfectly, and I will update if any issues arise. It's worth noting that attempting repairs like these without proper expertise can pose significant risks; therefore, it's crucial to exercise caution when handling critical components such as windshield wipers.
