BMW R 1200 GS LC Windshield raiser (5cm) With the standard windshield height, I experience helmet buffeting. Adapters lift the windshield about 5cm, completely stopping the helmet buffeting. I printed it with three walls and approximately 45% infill. - The part is designed for a metric nut and fits snugly. - Don't forget to add a support structure while printing. - I use 16mm bolts but they can be shortened by 2mm; longer screws are easier to assemble. - You will be able to reuse the original screws. - You will need four additional bolts and four nuts, metric thread included. - To my surprise, even lightweight parts for testing/measuring purposes felt strong. However, don't compromise safety - please print parts with sufficient infill and walls. - Use threadlocker during assembly. Drawbacks: - A bigger gap appears under the screen, possibly allowing more air to reach your chest. - The windshield might be a bit wobblier at its tallest position. I believe this is the most cost-efficient way to increase the height of your BMW motorcycle windshield. This solution is lightweight as well. The higher the part rises from the mass centre, the more crucial the savings become. So I decided not to add any metal clamps on top of my windshield. Ditching the original screen and opting for an expensive aftermarket solution seemed like a waste also. This is my approach: minimal investment with the option to return to stock settings at any time.
