Windowsill holder for dog door and beam Mk2
thingiverse
I designed and printed this little bracket to hold the dog door securely in place on my windowsill last year. By positioning it out of harm's way, I was able to keep it from falling over when not in use, which also conveniently tucked a handy storage area for keeping two-by-fours, my go-to contraption for securing the dog door - since my clever cat figured out how to dislodge it otherwise - right there on the bracket. A year after implementing this setup, however, I started noticing that the bracket showed signs of weakening and ultimately would likely break near its bottom edge due to overuse; consequently, this updated version bolsters stability at its most susceptible areas by thickening up both its front and back ends using faceted details, allowing it to distribute loads more evenly while maintaining its sleek appearance. The end result is a sturdy piece that withstands significantly more stress. To print successfully without any added support structures: Simply use ordinary wood screws in standard size, which will suffice for attaching it firmly to your chosen surface - this could be a windowsill or a shelf - securing it with just three evenly spaced screws.
